Google Search Console Connection, Setup and Troubleshooting

What Workexe pulls from Search Console and why

GSC is the single most accurate source of real Google query data for your site. Workexe ingests it to power keyword discovery, query intent mapping, CTR benchmarks per position and the Lost Clicks alerting.

  • 16 months of query, page, country and device data on first sync
  • Daily delta sync after that (typically completes within 30 minutes of GSC publishing the row)
  • Read-only OAuth, Workexe can never submit URLs, request removals or change settings

Two-click setup, step by step

From Project Settings, Integrations, click Connect Google Search Console. Choose the Google account that owns or has Full access to the property, approve the read-only scope, then pick the property that matches your project URL.

  • Use the same protocol and subdomain (https + www if that is your canonical)
  • Domain-property is preferred, it covers all subdomains in one connection
  • If the property does not appear, you do not have Full or Owner access (see next section)

Permission levels, what works and what does not

Google offers four GSC permission tiers. Only the top two work with Workexe because Restricted users cannot grant API access to third parties.

  • Owner, works, full access including all 16 months of history
  • Full user, works, same data access as Owner
  • Restricted user, does not work, ask the Owner to upgrade you or to connect themselves
  • Associated property, does not work, must be a verified property

Common errors and the actual fix

Almost every GSC connection issue traces back to one of three causes. Check them in this order before contacting support.

  • "No properties found" = wrong Google account selected, sign out and reconnect with the right one
  • "Insufficient permissions" = you are a Restricted user, request Full or have the Owner connect
  • "Sync stuck at 0%" = the property has less than 7 days of data, wait a week then trigger Resync

Disconnecting and reconnecting safely

Disconnecting GSC does not delete historical data already in Workexe, it only stops new ingestion. Reconnecting resumes from the last synced day, no duplicate rows.

  • Disconnect from Settings, Integrations, Google Search Console, Disconnect
  • Reconnect with the same account to keep data continuity
  • Switching to a different account causes a 1-time full resync (free, no extra cost)
